Coconut is like the heart of South Indian cooking. We use coconut in all our preparations to balance the heat, thickness and sweetness of the dish. Coconut is rich in vitamins, potassium and protein. Coconut is used in main course as well as used as accompaniment and in desserts.

(Ingredients: 8 to 10 portion)

For Grinding

  • Medium Coconut, grated or cut into small pieces 1 No
  • Green chilli 5 Nos
  • Tamarind Pulp 1 Tspn
  • Coriander Leaves, Chopped 1 Tspn
  • Fried Gram Dal 5 Tblspn
  • Ginger ¼ Tspn
  • Salt To taste

For Tempering

  • Oil 2 Tblspn
  • Mustard Seeds 1 Tspn
  • Channa Dal 1 Tspn
  • Curry Leaves 10 Nos
  • Guntoor Chilli, Broken 2 Nos

Method of preparation:

  1. Grind all ingredients in the mixie and garnish with tempering. Serve Fresh.
  2. For tempering, add oil in a pan, add mustard seeds, followed with curry leaves and all other items and add over the top of the fresh chutney.
