Off late, It had been longing to dig into this spicy and hearty South Indian crepe that takes its name from the beautiful city of Mysore.

 

Lets start chitchat quickly and share some amazing facts about the Chutney & its origin.

Chutney is almost indispensable in preparation of many Indian snacks.

The word "chutney" derives from the Sanskrit word ca?ni, meaning to lick.

  • Chutney is a family of condiments associated with South Asian cuisine made from a highly variable mixture of spices, vegetables, or fruit.
  • For creating Chutney the ingredients used are :  Spicy Chillies ,Garlic, Tamarind ,fried gram.
  • Coconut and Peanut chutney also goes well with Dosa and Idli and most of the breakfast menu of Mr Idli
  • To attain a deep red colour for the red chutney, some use Kashmiri chillies.
  • The red chutney can be made hot or less hot, depending on the number of red chillies used. 
  • Chutneys are usually grouped into sweet or hot forms; both forms usually contain spices, including chili, but differ by their main flavours.
