Who We Are

Mr. Idli is a global corporate chain of vegetarian restaurants specialising in South Indian cuisine with over 78 outlets across the world.

Be it the fiery chillies from Andhra and Telangana or the subtle spices from Karnataka ; the iconic sambar from Tamil Nadu or the gentle, steamed dishes of Kerala – we blend the unique cultures of the southern states to offer you a healthy, wholesome and lip-smacking meal that is authentically Indian in taste and spirit.

Our Mascot – The Idli

The Idli is a steamed cake made from lentils or rice that is a staple in every South Indian household’s breakfast menu. But if you would like to eat an Idli for lunch or dinner, the Idli doesn’t mind. Whether you eat it with spicy sambar and chutney or honey and ghee, the Idli will still make you happy. It’s a very gentle and versatile dish with no airs, which is why it is our favourite.

By the way, we make the softest and tastiest Idlis in town. Hence the name – Mr. Idli!

IDLIS ROCK!

Chef Shajahan M Abdul

Founder - Mr.Idli

A name one would rather associate with Biryani, Chef Abdul breaks convention every day -not just by pioneering some great Idli recipes but also by the work he does. With a Masters’ Degree in Hotel Management and credible experience working as a Michelin Star Chef with leading Multinational Corporate chains, he envisions putting South Indian cuisine on the world map as an exotic culinary experience.

The Origin

Mr. Idli was born on a fine day in the historical, heritage city of Mysore in 2009. It commenced business from a small outlet managed by Chef Abdul himself with the help of his friend Prashanth in a non-descript locality.

The idea was a bold one – to innovate with traditional cuisine.

What started as a simple wish to serve Mysoreans with healthy, tasty and affordable local cuisine became so popular for its diversity, creativity and quality that by 2011, Mr. Idli was offering franchises. By 2014, an R & D unit along with a manufacturing unit to produce standardised menu product for all outlets was set up.

Mr. Idli went from beginning operations in a space no more than 200 square feet, to one that now measures a whopping 20,000 square feet in area with Manufacturing, R&D, Training Institute & Communication Office, offering livelihoods to more than 50,000 individuals across the Globe.
